Judith Ann (Kirkwood) McElfresh, 64, passed away Monday, August 23, 2021. Born in 1957 in Muncie, Indiana, Judy graduated Delta High School (1975) and Ball State University (1980).
Judy had an extensive career in retail and worked as a buyer for LS Ayers. Judy was a passionate supporter of the arts. She was the Executive Director of the Muncie Symphony Orchestra, and she worked at the Jazz Kitchen promoting the jazz industry in Indianapolis. Judy was interested in Native American and Western Arts and enjoyed her time as the Director of Merchandising for the Eiteljorg Museum Store, Indianapolis. Later in her career she worked in Human Resources, helping people with employment opportunities.
Judy impacted the lives of so many people by her graceful attention to detail, welcoming spirit, and generosity. She was a positive role model. Judy was a clever negotiator when buying a car, and she exhibited street smarts when hailing a New York City cab. Judy’s favorite saying regarding the work at hand was, “do the worst first,” and regarding imperfections in a wardrobe, “no one can tell on a galloping horse, so keep moving.” Judy treasured her time spent on Lake Chapman, Warsaw, Indiana.
Judy is survived by Edward McElfresh, (husband) and Tyler McElfresh (son). Judy was preceded in death by Patricia (Ross) Kirkwood, mother, and Fred Kirkwood, father.
