Joseph P Muzila, 73 years old, was born on June 23, 1948 and passed away peacefully on March 21, 2022. He is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Lois, his dear children…Lynette (Jim), Joe Jr. (Lyn), Steven, Laurel (Phil), John (Mint), Lisa (Roy), Jamie (Lesley), his cherished grandchildren…Chantelle, Ronnie, Joey, Christine, Damen, Leanne (Mike), Ashley (Josh), Justin, Clayton, Kevin, Daniel & Kelli and his precious great-grandchildren…Miles, Avery, Siena & Skylar.
Joe enriched the lives of all who knew him. His wisdom, warmth, sense of humor and generous spirit will continue to touch and guide us all. He was born in Cleveland, OH and grew up in Orange County, CA, where, despite the limitations of a debilitating handicap, Joe became an avid surfer alongside his father. Joe was quite the character. He had an uncanny ability to memorize jokes & could sing — was artistic, funny & very outgoing. He was a jack-of-all-trades who seemed to know a bit about everything. During his long career as an engineer, Joe had the opportunity to experience his life working all across the United States.
He was personable & could strike up a conversation with people of all ages. For instance, he walked into a movie theater in Pelham, AL, started talking to a young girl who worked there & somehow managed to finagle free admissions thereafter. Yes, Joe’s gift for gab could get on Lois’ last nerve BUT…it sure came in handy!! At the local Drugstore he even befriended a pharmacist, who’d hook him up with insulin & drug samples to manage his diabetes.
Joe was a softy, romantic, a sensitive kinda fella, the sort that’d openly cry while watching a sappy movie. He loved listening to the oldies AND OF COURSE…Elvis. Whatever you’d refer to him as — Joe, Jo Jo, Papa Joe, Dad, Joseph or Butch…he’d be there for you in times of need. He had a heart of gold. He is 100% pain-free now, smiling upon us all from Heaven.
