Joseph J. Markle

Joseph John Markle (Joe), 73, passed away on Thursday, April 9, 2020, at Harrison Terrace in Indianapolis, IN. Joe was born in Gary, IN to William and Geraldine (Popp) Markle.
Joe grew up in Merrillville, IN with a brother and sister. He participated in Boy Scouts and played Little League baseball. Joe always enjoyed working on cars. He graduated from Merrillville High School where he played varsity football.
Joe served our country in the US Navy during Vietnam (1966-1970) aboard the USS Boxer. He loved his time in the Navy and would talk about it to anyone who would listen.
Joe lived in Shermans Dale, PA and Portage, IN. In 1995, Joe moved to Indianapolis and married his wife of 24 years, Carol. Joe was employed as an auto mechanic and trim carpenter until his retirement.
Joe was a kind soul and a caring person and he always wanted to have fun and make people laugh. He loved animals and working in his yard. Joe enjoyed working with his hands and could build or repair anything.
Joe is predeceased by his parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles. He is survived by his wife, Carol; daughter, Deanna (Todd) Hoffman; son, William K. Markle; step-daughter, Jennifer Arnold; step-son, Kenny (Crystal) Joyce; grandchildren, Matthew and Katie Hoffman, Corbin Arnold; brother, Bill (Karan) Markle; sister, Kathy Markle Hill, and several nephews, nieces, and cousins.

A Celebration of Life for Joe will take place on Thursday, July 30, 2020, at 10 a.m. at Indiana Funeral Care, 8151 Allisonville Road, Indianapolis, IN.
