Joseph Gilbert Tutts,97, of Indianapolis, IN passed away on Monday January 6, 2020.
He was born on March 19, 1922 in Washington, IN to the late Thomas Truman Tutts and
Mary Helen (O’Conner) Tutts. Joe was a 1941 graduate of Washington High School, following high school graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served in World War II. Joe returned to Washington, IN and was employed by U.S. Rubber where he met the love of his life Barbara Jean Garner, they were married in 1948. They moved to Indianapolis, IN where he began his employment at Western Electric. There he worked in the Plating Department, retiring after 35 years. He also worked part time at Central Hardware. He was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church.
He loved watching his grandchildren grow up and went to as many of their
activities as possible. Joe was an avid Colts and Pacer fan. He was a
wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Joe is survived by his children, Michael(Kristy) Tutts, Janet(Van) Messersmith, grandchildren, Randy, Adam & Aaron, great-grandson Miles. Joe was proceeded in death by his loving wife Barbara Tutts of 68 years, his parents and 5 siblings.
Visitation will be held on Sunday January 12,2020 at Indiana Funeral Care. Funeral Mass will be held at St.Lawrence Catholic Church, on Monday January 13, 2020 at 12:00pm. A graveside service at Oaklawn Cemetery will follow.
