John Reid, formerly of Granville, Ohio, was born December 31, 1937, in Rochester, Pennsylvania to the late John W. Reid II and Violet (Sickeler, Reid) Seran. He grew up in that area and later moved to Canton, Ohio where he attended Canton Lincoln High School, graduating in 1956. He went on to obtain his Architectural degree from Kent State University, graduating in 1961. He married his wife Patricia Ann (Hulit) Reid on January, 20 1961. They enjoyed 51 years of marriage prior to her death in September of 2012.
John owned his own business in Newark, Ohio for many years, originally known as Harden and Reid Architects. He was an active member of his community participating for several years in Rotary and Newark JC’s. He was an avid golfer and participated in two golf leagues for over 30 years bringing home many 1st place pewter mugs. He spent many years traveling the world with his beloved wife. He loved sailing, playing bridge, euchre and , building and fixing things. He was a man who was mostly seen in khaki pants and a nice dress shirt. Most of all he was a loving family man taking wonderful care of his wife, children and grandchildren. He loved to laugh and had a wicked sense of humor.
John leaves behind many family members who love and appreciate the job he completed as a husband, father and sibling. He is survived by his children, Scott (Christine) Reid of Granville, Ohio. Sherri (Dan) Kiesle of Carmel, IN. Kent (Trish) Reid of Newark, Ohio. Liz (Chris) Loehrer of Hilliard, Ohio. He will also be missed by his grandchildren, John (Laura) Reid, Kristen (Jessie) Nunley, Mckenzie and Maddie Kiesle, Timothy and Daniel Stewart, Addison, Ashley and Brooklyn Loehrer and great granddaughter Sophie Reid. He is also survived by his brother Frank Reid and sister Ellen (Reid) Both.
At Johns request there will be no funeral services. He will be cremated and the immediate family will hold a celebration of life in the future. In lieu of any flowers or donations we ask you live your life to the fullest, be kind to family and friends, and always have a sense of humor.
