John Joseph Von Tobel

John Joseph Von Tobel, 72, passed away December 21. John was joined in heaven with his birth Mother, Paula Prendergast Von Tobel, Father, John Von Tobel, and loving Mother who raised him, Marilyn Sand Von Tobel. John was born in Peoria, Illinois, was a graduate of Shortridge High School and attended IU. He served in the U.S. Army as an MP in Vietnam. John worked in the bar and restaurant industry in Broad Ripple for many years and retired from USAir. An avid sports fan, he especially revered the Cubs. John was most happy laughing and relating funny stories from his bartending days. His love of good times was only surpassed by his big heart and generous soul. His family will forever miss his sense of humor and infectious laugh.

John is survived by his love and soul mate, Teresa (Corbin) Von Tobel, the children he lovingly raised, Jason Corbin (Autumn), Jayme Brubaker (Shane), grandchildren, Tucker and Brody Brubaker, Thomas Domoslai, Rebekah Domoslai, SheradinCorbin, fishing buddy and father-in-law, Jack Corbin, sisters, Paula Lee (Robert) and Cris Anderson (Craig), brother, Joe Von Tobel (Alicia), and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be held at Indiana Funeral Care, 8151 Allisonville Road, on Saturday, January 25 from 1:00- 3:00 p.m., with a tribute in John’s honor beginning at 3:00.
