John J. Lee, 90, of Indianapolis, passed away on March 26, 2021. John was born to the late Herbert and Marge Lee on May 23, 1930.
John graduated from Cathedral High School in 1948. He attended Butler University and graduated from Purdue University with a degree in engineering. He was a member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning Engineers. John served in the United States Army from 1951-1953. He was stationed in Japan during the Korean War.
John started Lee Supply Company with his father in 1949, along with his two sisters, Pat and Marianne. He then went on to work for various engineering companies.
John enjoyed boating and camping with his children and grandchildren. He was a member of the Indianapolis Mazda Miata Club and enjoyed riding his motorcycle. John was also an amateur radio operator; a hobby he enjoyed for many years.
John is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Michael Lee.
John is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Martha A. Lee; siblings, Bob (Paula) Lee, Gary (Nancy) Lee, Tom (late Karen) Lee, Richard (late Becky) Lee, Marianne (George) Kirkhoff, Patricia Mattick; sons, Steve (late Connie) Lee, James (Marie) Lee, David (Mary) Lee, Kenneth Lee; grandchildren, Nick (Jackie) Lee, Cameron (Jessica) Lee, Andy Lee, Casey Lee and Marsha Jean-Baptiste; great-granddaughters, Jocelynn and Nola Lee; 4 step-grandsons and 2 step-great granddaughters, several nieces and nephews.
Services will be Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 7200 Sarto Dr. Indianapolis, with visitation beginning at 11:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:30 p.m. Services entrusted to Indiana Funeral Care
