John Edward Lewis 65, of Cloverdale, IN passed on October 26, 2020. John was born on February 14, 1955, in Dayton, OH to Wilbur & Brenda Lewis. He enlisted in the Army in 1972 where he served as a supply clerk in 1st and 2nd Infantry Divisions while stationed in South Korea & at Fort Riley Kansas.
After the Army John worked as a journeyman commercial roofer for over 20 years and then as a carpenter before multiple leadership roles in the construction field. John retired as a commercial construction Superintendent in 2019. To his friends and family, John was known for his willingness to use his talents to serve any and all in need.
John is survived by his wife of 21 years, Kellie Haltom Lewis.
He is also survived by his children Heather (Markus) Jones, Shawn Lewis, Grant (Kristen) Lewis, Kelsey (Kyle) Brown, and Hannah (Alex) Suits. His father Wilbur Lewis and siblings, Butch (Rita) Lewis, David Lewis, Brenda (Greg) Bauer, Joanne (David) Endsley, Linda Fisher, and Bob (Angie) Lewis, and several nieces and nephews.
John's recent years were filled with the joy of grandchildren who were always eager to spend time with Papaw. He is survived by his 9 grandchildren, Christian Lewis, Courtney Lewis, Astrid Jones, Karsten Jones, Corinne Brown, Levi Brown, Ruger Suits, Cecilia Lewis, Camilla Lewis.
John was preceded in death by his mother and his son John Kelley Lewis.
Visitation will be held at First Baptist Church,404 Judson Drive, Greencastle, IN 461356 on November 7th at 11:00 AM followed by a memorial service at 1:30 PM. All are welcome (masks required.) Following the service, a graveside military ceremony will be conducted at the Cloverdale Cemetery, E Robert Weist Ave Cloverdale, IN 46120 at 3:00 PM. All are welcome.
