JoAnne Wade

JoAnne Root Wade, born on August 8, 1938, to Harry Jay Root and Rose Edith Nichols Root, grew up on the Eastside of Indianapolis. She was preceded in death by her sister, Carol Jean Root Moore, and her husband, Robert (Bob) William Wade.

JoAnne graduated from Howe High School, winning many awards in Art. Her artist's mind would be expressed in her fondness of flowers, gardens and landscaping; and later, in her affection for the seashore. She willingly shared her wealth of knowledge with friends and family.

Her love affair with her husband, Bob, lasted 54 years until his death. They were blessed with 2 daughters, Stephanie Ann DeTrude (Keith) and Jennifer Lynne Mitchell (Tracy); 5 grandchildren, Tyler Mitchell (Katie), Danielle DeTrude, Elise DeTrude, Jorden Smith (Zack) and Justin Mitchell (Paige). After Bob's passing, JoAnne became the adoring great grandmother of Calvin and Oliver Mitchell and Sage Smith.

Over 5 decades ago, Bob and JoAnne discovered the beauty of Bonita Springs, FL and purchased a home on the beach. It became the place where family memories were made. Soon JoAnne developed a deep affection for all things found at low tide...unique shells, colorful birds, sunrises, sunsets, the sounds and scents...They were complements to her love of nature in the Midwest.

Fiercely independent, with a mind of her own, JoAnne lived life her way and on her terms.

In the presence of loving family and the sounds of nature, JoAnne passed away less than 10 miles from where she grew up as a child.
