Joanne Reed

August 9, 1933 — December 5, 2019

Joanne Rodibaugh Reed of Greenfield, IN, died December 5, 2019 surrounded by her children and husband. She was born in Westfield, IN on August 9, 1933 to Charles and Kathryn Rodibaugh and 5 older brothers and sisters. Growing up, she enjoyed a simple farm life where she loved raising pigs and hated cleaning the chicken coop. Love was in abundance in the Rodibaugh home.

One evening, Joanne attended a dance with a friend and she was the prettiest girl there so, naturally, Leo J. Reed asked her to dance. Three weeks later he asked her to marry him. Joanne and Leo enjoyed over 63 years of love and laughter.

The joy of her life was her family. From weeks away with her children at campgrounds across the country, to hosting each of her grandchildren at her home every summer for a week, to yearly winter Florida trips with her husband, Joanne’s deepest connections were built around experiences with those she loved.

Joanne showed up for her people in big ways. She attended sporting events and cheered louder than anyone. She made it to ceremonies, reunions, graduations, and weddings; you could not keep her away, and, as she liked to say, she’d “be there with bells on.”
Joanne welcomed the sick and in-need into her home to give them a loving and healing space. Her love was shown through home cooked food, warm beds, tender empathy, and smiling eyes. Joanne lived by grace and walked in love.

She leaves behind her daughters, Kathy (Randy) Roller and Sally Fredell, both of Greenfield, son Leo A. Reed of Lafayette, sister Mary Margaret Fox of Brownsburg, 6 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and a whole slew of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and friends of all ages. She was dearly loved and will be profoundly missed.

The celebration of life service will be held January 4, 2020 at 3:00, at Trinity Park United Methodist Church, 207 W Park Ave, Greenfield IN. Visitation at the church will begin at 1:30 and conclude at the beginning of the service.
