J. Joann Eschmeyer, age 84 and a longtime resident of Carmel, died Thursday, April 29 at Copper Trace.
She was born on December 21, 1936 in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Donald and Elizabeth Smith.
Joann attended Ben Davis High School where she met her first husband. For 45 years Joann worked at Blue Cross Blue Shield in customer service. While she enjoyed her job, retirement gave Joann the opportunity to travel and go on several cruises.
Joann had a vivacious personality and made people around her laugh. She made friends everywhere she went and love to be with them. In her younger years Joann enjoyed bowling and participated in several bowling leagues with many good friends. When she was older, she enjoyed social fun of the Red Hat Society. She treasured her son and especially her role as a grandma.
Joann is survived by her husband, Alan Eschmeyer; her son, Ed Moore; daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Moore; and her granddaughter, Laura Moore; brother, Richard “Dick” Smith; nephews, Rick and Rob Smith; nieces, Louise Bracken, Judy Moore, Carol Zurakowski; great nieces and nephews, Samantha, Danielle, Justin, Cory, Katy, Peyton, Sierra, Serena, Tyson, and Isabelle.
Donations may be made to Wyndmoor where she spent her last few days. The family is forever indebted to Tamicka Farral for her loving care she provided Joann.
Visitation will be 1-3 PM, Tuesday, May 11th at Indiana Funeral Care on Allisonville Road. A graveside service will follow at Carmel Cemetery around 3:30pm.
