Jo Dean Yarno
84, passed away on December 25, 2021. She was born on October 16, 1937, in Merom, Indiana to Ross and Edith (Bush) Rockwell.
Jo Dean graduated from Mill Creek High School in 1955. She continued her education, graduating from Indiana State University with a bachelor’s degree in Home Economics and her master’s degree in Education. Her teaching career spanned over 32 years which includes teaching at Mill Creek High School and LaPorte High School. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority for Key Women Educators and served as their president for two years.
On April 23, 1960, she married her college sweetheart, Arnold Yarno, who survives her in Westfield, Indiana. She is also survived by her two daughters; Jennifer Yarno of Westfield, IN and Jackie (Joseph) Martinsen of Carmel, IN; two grandchildren, Will and Leah Martinsen; and her brother, Robert (Irmgard) Rockwell of Bremen, IN. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother William Rockwell.
Jo Dean enjoyed sewing, reading, completing many jigsaw puzzles, a good margarita, chocolate desserts, and having monthly gatherings with her best friends, also known as “the poker group”. She loved to travel with her family and friends which included trips to Disney, the Smoky Mountains, Alaska, and Hawaii. Her greatest joy was the time she had with her husband, children, and grandchildren.
