James “Jim” Edward Gill, Jr, 71, of Indianapolis, IN, passed away on April 2, 2025, at Community Hospital East in Indianapolis with his family by his side. He was born on August 25, 1953, in Indianapolis, IN, to Mrs. Dorothy (Mahaney) Marcum. After completing his education, he proudly served his country in the United States Army. He later retired from his service and went on to work for the post office, where he worked for several years until his retirement.

After his service, Jim later met and married his wife, Marsha (Daugherty) Gill, and they enjoyed many years together raising their family and watching their children and then grandchildren grow.

Jim was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to many, who had many joys in life. He enjoyed fishing, playing golf, as well as watching IU basketball, the Indianapolis Colts, and Nascar every season. However, his greatest joy in life was the time he spent with his family, who will all miss him very much.

Jim is survived by his wife, Marsha Gill; his son and daughter-in-law, daughter and son-in-law, three bonus daughters as well as their spouses; six grandsons, three granddaughters, four great-granddaughters, and one great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy Mahaney and Robert Gill, as well as several of his siblings.
