Jewel Williams

Jewel Williams, 67, of Shelbyville, IN, passed away peacefully at home on February 3, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Jewel was born in Richmond, Virginia, March 24, 1957, the beloved daughter of Shirley Ann Dean-Williams and Charles Lynwood Williams.

Jewel was raised in Chicago, IL. She attended Jones Commercial High School, Class of 1975. She was a graduate of Catherine College, Chicago, IL, in Business Administration. Jewel worked for over 25 years at the University of Chicago Hospital in the Department of Pathology. Jewel relocated to Shelbyville, IN, in 2013, to be with her daughter and granddaughter. While residing in Shelbyville, she spent time as a volunteer at Major Hospital.

Jewel treasured every moment of being a mother and grandmother. She loved her family and friends with all her heart. The time she shared with family and friends brought her immense joy. Jewel was a beautiful soul, and she touched the hearts of many. To know her was to love her.

Jewel is survived by her children Cherese Williams and Chad Williams, her granddaughter Chaniya Williams, sister Carol Dilworth, brother Charles Williams Jr., best friends Sarah Stewart and Jackie May, special caregiver Jonathan McIntyre, and a host of friends and loved ones. Jewel was proceeded in death by her parents, sister Theresa Williams, and nephew Dorian Moore.

Jewel's celebration of life took place in her living state on January 18, 2025. She was able to be celebrated, honored, and given her flowers while she was alive to see and feel the love. Jewel transitioned knowing she was truly loved, valued, cherished, and appreciated. She will be laid to rest at Rock River Memorial Forest in Oregon, IL, at her family burial tree, in a private celebration among close family and friends.

Jewel Yevette Williams will be forever remembered for her loving spirit, love and compassion for others, and the deep love and dedication she had for her family and friends. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Jewel will especially be cherished by her daughter in which they shared a very special bond.
