Jerry Bill Corbin, 78, of Indianapolis passed away December 16, 2021. After surviving and recovering well from several serious health issues over the last few years, he passed after a very brief battle with cancer. Bill, as most knew him, was born June 9, 1943, in Muncie, Indiana, to the late Fred Corbin and Lenora (Slough) Corbin. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Glendyn Elaine (Grove) Corbin. In addition, he is survived by his three adult children Bryan Corbin, John Corbin (wife Janel), Lisa Spoor (husband Adam), and his six grandchildren Dustin Corbin, David Corbin (wife Cassidy), Daniel Corbin, Victoria Harper-Mercado (husband Hugo), Katelyn Spoor, Andrew Spoor, and his sister Carol Reddish.
Bill was a 1961 graduate of Chrysler High School in New Castle, Indiana, and received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Ball State College in 1965. After college graduation, Bill taught industrial arts at New Castle Junior High School for one year and at North Central High School in Indianapolis for 3 years. He then switched careers and became a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) working as a Loss Prevention Representative and Manager for several commercial insurance companies in Indianapolis, including Aetna, Meridian Insurance, General Accident Insurance and FCCI. He also was employed for two years as Safety Director for Rutgers Printing Company in Indianapolis, and at one time operated his own Loss Prevention Consulting Company for one year.
Bill loved God and his Savior Jesus Christ and was quite active in several churches in the Indianapolis area over the years, including East 38th Street Christian Church, Indian Creek Christian Church, Grace Evangelical Church, and during the last 13 years at LifePoint Church. Bill was also a great lover of God's beautiful world of nature, and his favorite activities were hiking and fishing. He also enjoyed traveling extensively throughout the United States and to many countries around the world on cruises with his wife Elaine. Bill was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and a supportive "Dad" to many other kids throughout his life. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A Celebration of Life Service for Bill will be held at LifePoint Church, 8540 Combs Road, Indianapolis, Indiana 46237 on Wednesday, December 22, 2021. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM to 3:30 PM with the service beginning at 3:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, Bill's family has requested that donations be made to the Simon Cancer Center in Indianapolis and/or to the American Heart Association.
