Jerri Lee Williamson, a vibrant soul whose life was filled with music and joy, passed away on Saturday, 4/27/24, at the age of 72. Born in Indianapolis, Jerri demonstrated an early passion for the arts. She studied piano under the noted professor Martin Marks at Butler University and later honed her skills at Indiana University School of Music with Karen Shaw. A talented pianist and vocalist, her musical journey was marked by her roles in various bands, including the notable "Five Easy Pieces," and her membership in the Indianapolis Symphonic Choir.

Jerri's career spanned more than just the stage; she touched lives through her work as a piano and vocal teacher at the G. Scotten Talent Center and her heartfelt performances at local retirement homes, where she brought much joy and laughter. At the time of her passing, she was mentoring over 30 students, inspiring and encouraging them to showcase their talents through frequent recitals, helping them grow not only as musicians but as confident individuals.

Beyond her artistic endeavors, Jerri was involved in a variety of activities including interior design and real estate. She also served as the district secretary for the Parks and Recreation Department at Krannert Community Center. For the past 20 years she was also a well-known instructor and practitioner of water aerobics throughout the Indianapolis area.

Jerri's life was a testament to her belief in the power of music and community. She is survived by her son Derek Williamson (Terea), her beloved granddaughter Dylan Williamson, her younger sisters Gail Anne  (Bruce) Meier and Angela Swinton and their children and grandchildren, as well as her Uncle Bill Shackelford. She was a beloved mother, a devoted grandmother, a dear sister, a cherished aunt, and an inspiration to all who knew her. She was predeceased by her parents and nephews Cameron Watson and Justin Meier.

Jerri leaves behind a legacy of love, creativity, and an unending zest for life that will be dearly missed by all who knew her. A memorial celebration of Jerri’s life will be held at College Park Church, 2606 W 96th St, Indianapolis, 46268 on Friday, May 10, with visitation from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm and service from 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to to College Park church or the charity of your choice.
