Jeremy James Hilt (Horti), 44, Sheridan, passed away unexpectedly at a friend’s home in Zionsville, on November 22, 2020.
Jeremy was born in Indianapolis on October 16, 1976 to Bruce and Barbara Hilt. He attended Zionsville Community Schools for most of his schooling and received his diploma in 1996. While in his teens, he began his lifelong career as a carpenter. He started out framing houses then began commercial construction and worked the last ten years at Vision Specialties Group as a commercial carpenter and was their lead foreman. At Vision, he received recognition as Carpenter of the Year more than once. He was a hard worker with a work ethic and drive that’s rare to find. His hard work was motivated by his love for his family. Jeremy was a true handy man with many talents. On his rare days off, he enjoyed beekeeping, fishing in his pond, hunting for morels in the spring, napping in his hammock or couch, and spending time with his kids, Daryen Hilt and Carl Hazelwood, his longtime love, Tepic Parks, and their furry and feathery babies including their dogs, cats, and chickens. He was looking forward to meeting his first granddaughter in January and spoiling her like he always did his daughter, Daryen, who was the apple of his eye. Jeremy was an all around good man and everyone he encountered thought a lot of him. His sense of humor was one of a kind and an excellent judge of character. It’s impossible to sum up the life of a man of his character, strength, and integrity in a few paragraphs. Needless to say, he will be dearly missed by his family and all of those who knew him.
Jeremy is survived by his lifelong partner, Tepic Parks, his daughter, Daryen Hilt (Jacob Condry), two sons, Benjamin Hitzeman and Carl Hazelwood, his parents, Bruce and Barbara Hilt, his sister, Maggie Hilt (Andrew Hutchinson), maternal grandparents Jim and Judy Doran, paternal grandparents, Harold and Jeanine Hilt, father and mother in law, Brett and Mary Parks, many aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends.
A graveside service will be held Friday, December 4th at 2pm at Lincoln Memory Gardens in Whitestown, followed by a celebration of life at his residence in Sheridan. The service will be outside and will allow for social distancing.
Many thanks to all those who have reached out to help and offer condolences. It has been a true testament to Jeremy’s character and legacy that he has left behind.
