Jean Murray McDermott-Cratty, 54, of Greenwood, Indiana passed away on Sunday, September 26, 2021 at her home with family by her side.
Jean was born on Wednesday, July 19, 1967 to the late Martin Downey and Jean Marie (Holt) McDermott in Indianapolis, Indiana. She graduated Chatard High School with 9 varsity letters. She played many sports including basketball, softball, and volleyball. She later attended the University of Indiana and earned her bachelor’s degree in General Studies.
The first love of her life was her daughter Julie. She couldn’t say enough how much she loved and doted on her. She spoiled her, but mainly with unconditional love. Jean married Jeff Cratty on August 11, 2001 in the Chapel at Our Lady of The Greenwood and were married 20 years this year.
Jean was a simple woman. She loved her family dearly. She enjoyed being outdoors in nature, watching the birds, listening to her wind chimes, relaxing and taking in the beauty of her garden sanctuary. She loved animals. She currently she had 2 dogs and 3 cats but throughout life she always had pets. No matter what was going on in life she was always positive.
Jean is survived by her husband, Jeff Cratty; daughter, Julie McDermott; siblings, Cathy McClure and her husband Alan, Martin D. McDermott and his wife Sandy, John McDermott and his wife Anne, Suzanne Sherman and her husband Charles, Bill McDermott, Russell McDermott and Vivian Getz.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Jean, and sister-in-law, Lisa McDermott.
Visitation will be Thursday, September 30, 2021 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Indiana Funeral Care, Greenwood Chapel
Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, October 1, 2021 at 1:00 pm at Our Lady of The Greenwood.
Burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
