Janet Ann (Valus) Waskow
July 15, 1959 — May 1, 2020
Janet Ann (Valus) Waskow passed away in Indianapolis on May 1, 2020 after a two year battle with cancer. She was at home surrounded by her family.
Janet was born on July 15, 1959 to James and Jacquelyn Valus (deceased) in Milwaukee, WI. She spent her youth in La Grange Park, IL with her four brothers and sisters- Jean Gereb (Ken), Michael Valus (Cheryl), Judith Sadler (Allan) and Thomas Valus.
Janet is survived by her husband of 40 years, Mark, and their three daughters - Jennifer Bielarczyk (Michael), Sara Connolly (Thomas Jr.) and Elizabeth Simpson (Jason). She was also a proud grandmother of her five grandsons- Thomas III, Maddox, Collin, Marshall, and Travis. Janet will also be missed by her sisters-in-law Karin Galgano (Michael), Susan Patula (Edward), and Carol Waskow (David, deceased) along with numerous nieces and nephews.
A graduate of Northern Illinois University, Janet spent most of her career in retail management, starting with Kids “R” Us and most recently worked for Buy Buy Baby. In her free time she enjoyed sewing, traveling with her husband and family, and gardening. Her most cherished activity was spending time with her family and especially her grandsons.
Services will be private. Janet’s family is planning a larger celebration of life at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Janet’s name to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) or St. Vincent Foundation.
