Jan Lloyd Jacobs

April 12, 1933 — March 1, 2025

Jan Lloyd Jacobs, 91, passed away on March 1, 2025, in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Born on April 12, 1933, Jan earned his degree from Butler University before embarking on a distinguished career with the Fidelity and Deposit Company of Maryland. Over the course of 35 years, he advanced from managing the Indianapolis office to serving as a Vice President before retiring in 1994.

Jan proudly served in the U.S. Army from October 1955 to October 1959. Beyond his professional and military life, he was an avid runner who participated in many group runs. He also found joy in walking his beloved dog, Harvard, often stopping to chat with neighbors along the way. Known for his warm and friendly nature, Jan had a gift for striking up conversations with strangers and learning their stories.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney and Lillian (Ruby) Jacobs; his wife, Molly C. Jacobs; his twin brother, Jay S. Jacobs; his sister, Mary Sue Branning; and his grandson, Christopher L. Walsh. He is survived by his stepsons, Michael Walsh (Beatrice) and Mark Walsh (Kyle Hopkins); granddaughter Rachel Higgins; great-grandchildren Maddie, Sam, Paige, and Anna, extended family and his longtime companion Susan Cornelius.

In accordance with Jan’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Cremation will be handled by Indiana Funeral Care. There will be a burial service for family and close friends at the grave site in Crown Hill Cemetery on April 1 at noon.

Because Jan was particularly fond of dogs, you might honor him with a donation to the Humane Society.

Jan’s kindness and genuine interest in others left a lasting impression on all who knew him. May his memory bring comfort to those who cherished him.
