Jamie Ann Hayes
41, passed away Friday, December 31, 2021, surrounded by family at her side. She fought a heroic two-year battle with Leiomyosarcoma. She was born in Indianapolis on March 15, 1980 to Linda and F. Joseph Hayes.
Jamie attended Bishop Chatard and Cardinal Ritter High School, where she graduated in 1998. She went on to pursue her undergraduate degrees from Purdue University, double majoring in Political Science and Psychology. While attending Purdue, she was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority and worked abroad in London for the UK Labour Party.
After graduation, she attended University of Dayton Law School. Following graduation, she passed the Pennsylvania Bar Exam, where she resided and worked as an attorney at a top law firm. Due to her strong family ties, Jamie decided to return to Indianapolis, where she passed the Indiana Bar Exam.
She found her calling at Community Hospital North, where she started in the Behavioral Health Pavilion. She transited into Legal Department, where they accepted her as a part of their family.
Anyone that met Jamie could tell what a beautiful soul she was. She was smart, witty and had a smile that could light up a room. She was the most genuine and generous person, especially when it came to her nephews, nieces and best friend’s children. Ordinarily, it is the grandparents that spoil the kids, but in the Hayes family, it was Aunt Jamie. She showered them with love and gifts, just as she did with everyone she knew.
She loved spending time with her family and friends, and was always up for an adventure. She would often plan and organize fun activities for the family. The family adventures would include trips, theme parks, arcades, escape rooms and multiple animal encounters, such as swimming with the dolphins.
Jamie is survived by her fiancé, Josh Heldman, her parents, Linda and F. Joseph Hayes, sisters, Lindsay Hayes, Heather (Kevin) Pleak, nephews, Kaden and Luca Pleak, several aunts, uncles, cousins, the Heldman family and an abundance of friends. Jamie was preceded in death by her grandparents, Mack and Masako Duckworth, Frank and A. LaVene Hayes, aunt, Cindy Hayes and niece, Addilynn Jo Pleak.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers please consider a donation to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital. http://giftfunds.stjude.org/JamieHayesMemorial
