James Eugene White

James Eugene White, 85, passed away March 25, 2023. He was born September 28, 1937 to Joe and Lena (Davis) White in Burkesville, Kentucky. He is survived by two brothers Paul Rondal White and Bobby (Betty) White; several nieces & nephews. He’s also survived by 2 step sons James A. (Phyllis) Strong and Allen Strong; 2 step daughters Wanda F. Armstrong and Judy E. Kizzee; 10 step grandchildren; 19 step great grandchildren; 6 step great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife Pauline (Strong) White in 2011; 7 sisters Veda Mae, Gladys Maddie, Mary Maxeline, Ruby Grace, Dorothy, Betty, Dovie Pearl; 2 brothers Fred and Joe; 2 step sisters Sue and Ginny and his parents. Also preceded in death by his step grandson Walter L. Strong and wife Cheryl Diane Strong in 2009; his step great grandson and namesake Joseph Eugene Strong in 2019; his step grandson Jason A. Strong in 2021.

He was known as Jim, James or Eugene and always quick to say “you can call me anything but don’t call me late for dinner.” He loved most sports; bowling, hunting and fishing trips to Lake Erie with his late wife Pauline. He was a Kentucky Wildcat fan and a former Colts season ticket holder but his favorite sport by far was baseball. There was only one team for him the New York Yankees.

He loved staying busy and worked until he was 82 when health issues forced him to retire.

At Crestwood South he enjoyed visiting and talking with all the friends he made there. He never met a stranger. He was many things to many people but most importantly he was a loving son, brother, uncle, stepfather and step grandfather. He will be greatly missed and remembered by all who knew him.

Per his wishes a private scattering of his ashes will be held at a later date.
