James Timothy Benton

James Timothy Benton, 74 passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his ever-loving family on February 6, 2022. For 9 years he courageously battled cancer. Born in Indianapolis on May 9, 1947, he was a graduate of Pike High School and went on to attend Indiana University Bloomington. He made many fond memories and friendships through his fraternity, Phi Sigma Kappa. He was a devoted husband of 51 years and amazing father and grandfather who cherished time with his family. Jim loved playing golf with many friends he made at Indian Lake Country Club. He also would seek out golf courses around the state of Indiana and occasionally venture as far as Michigan. In recent years, he rekindled his love for fishing alongside his friends and appreciated the quiet time out on the water at Lake Webster.
James is survived by his loving wife Sandra M Benton and children James J. Benton (Erin) and Adrianne N. Solmonson (Derek), Grandchildren Cambria B. Roberts, Arianna L. Lee, Broderick J. J. Lee, S. Harper Benton and Nash D. J. Benton, his sister Deborah J.Boyer, brother-in-law Robert T. Mabbitt (Donna) 2 nephews and 3 nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents Luther and Marion L. Benton. His brother-in-law, Douglas L. Boyer Jr. and father-in-law Charles R. Mabbitt.
