James A. (Jim) Massey, Noblesville, age 76, passed away on June 26, 2021. Jim was born on February 12, 1945, in Lebanon, Indiana to James A. and Priscella Massey.
Jim proudly served in the United States Army, 3rd Battalion, 508th Infantry Regiment (Airborne) stationed in Panama from 1962-1965. He served as company armorer and was an expert marksman. After completing his military service, Jim was employed by Chrysler Corporation until his retirement in 1997.
Jim was a member of Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Indianapolis, Indiana. Jim was a sports enthusiast and played on many sports teams in his younger years. He also coached numerous youth sports teams, and became an avid golfer later in life. Jim’s children and grandchildren were the light of his life, and he was immensely proud of all of them.
Jim is survived by his wife of 35 years, Janet; children Jeff (Mindy Coble) Massey, Eric (Allison) Massey, and Katherine (Kevin) Herkert; grandchildren Madison Massey, Emily Massey, Seth Massey, Addie Massey, and Theodore Herkert; brother Roland Massey, and nieces Rhonda Daugherty and Rachel Keister. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, sister, and two nieces.
A celebration of Jim’s life will be held on July 9, 2021, at Forest Park Inn, Main Room, Noblesville, Indiana. Visitation will be from 3:00-7:00pm, with a memorial service immediately following. Jim wanted this occasion to be a party atmosphere, so rock and roll music will be playing and light refreshments will be served.
