James Oliver, beloved father and friend, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2024, at Franciscan Hospital in Indianapolis. Born on November 4, 1953, in Connersville, Indiana, James lived a life full of dedication, passion, and a bit of mischief.
James proudly served his country in the United States Navy, where he was a proud graduate of Radioman A School. He served on the USS Glover as a radioman, a role he took great pride in, and his time in the Navy was a defining chapter in his life.
Following his military service, James embarked on a long and fulfilling career with Klosterman Baking Company, where he worked for 41 years. His colleagues and friends there will remember him not just for his strong work ethic but also for the kindness he extended to everyone he met.
James had a heart of gold and was always willing to lend a hand. Whether it was helping a neighbor or supporting a friend, his generosity knew no bounds. He was known for his love of fishing, especially with his brothers and his brother-in-law, Dave, who was also his best friend. Those fishing trips were among his happiest moments, filled with laughter, stories, and the simple joy of being together.
When he wasn't casting a line, James could be found tinkering with computers, another of his passions. His sense of humor and spirited personality made him a "general pain in the ass" to those who knew and loved him, and he wouldn't have had it any other way.
James is survived by his son, Jason Oliver, who will carry forward the many lessons, love, and memories his father imparted. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Peggy Ann Oliver, whom he loved dearly.
In keeping with his wishes, there will be no formal funeral service. Instead, a celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
James will be deeply missed but never forgotten. His legacy of kindness, service, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
