James Edward Parkhurst, age 79, of Alexandria, Indiana, passed away May 18, 2021. He was born Nov. 17, 1942 in Anderson, IN, to Floyd and Elsie Parkhurst. He graduated from Anderson High School in 1961. He retired from General Motors after 30 years.
James was an avid Horseshoe player and won several awards. He was also known as JEP the Clown for 25 years, clowning for private birthday parties and in several parades. He also gave clowning classes at his church, and the group performed at many nursing homes.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Kay Parkhurst. Also survived by his sisters, Rita Hensley, of Texas, Diane (Dan) McKenzie and Donna McClurg both of Anderson and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Phillip, a daughter Angella Kay, and his brother, Tim Parkhurst.
James was dearly loved and will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Cremation was chosen. A Celebration of Life will be held at Tree of Life Ministry in Marion, Indiana on Saturday, June 5, at 11:30am. Rev. Charles Moore will officiate.
