James Earl Small

August 21, 1951 — October 28, 2021

James “Jim” Earl Small, 70, of Kokomo, Indiana, passed away on October 28, 2021. Jim was born in Elwood, Indiana to Margaret Ann Townsend-Brotherton. Jim along with his two brothers and sister were privileged to be adopted by a wonderful man, Robert Small, whom Margaret had married. Jim worked for the Laborer’s Union as a Millwright and worked many other factory jobs throughout his life. One of his biggest passions in life was music. In his younger years he played the drums in a band. He loved singing and would frequently sing karaoke, and always volunteered to sing at special events. He was a very kind and humble man and was always willing to help others. To know Jim was to love him. Jim is survived by his 4 children James A. Small, Stacey Smith, Richie Tudor, and Todd Tudor and their mother Juanita Small; his grandchildren Aubrey Nichole Small, Kaylynn Jo Small, Mariah Smith, Mason Smith and Brooklyn Smith; his siblings Glen Allen Small (Helen), and Stanley Wayne Small (Sheila); his aunts Debra McNew Bennington, Mary Pratt, Emmanell Small Dunn, Susan Small Fulton, and Shirley Small Bush; and special friends Amber Brown, Jonathon Heath, John Heath, Amy Heath and Jason Richardson; Jim is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Margaret and Robert Small, his brother Thomas Eugene Small, and his sister Vickie Lynn Small Bontrager. The family would like to thank North Woods Village and Guardian Angel Hospice for the wonderful care that they provided during his last days. Services were entrusted to Indianapolis Funeral Care. There will be a private memorial held at a later date.
