James E. Shinolt, 74, of North Vernon passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2020, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility in Columbus.
James was born on October 15, 1945, to the late Charles and Elaine Shinolt. He married Libby Castetter on October 13, 1989 in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.
Mr. Shinolt was a graduate of North Vernon High School and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and Air Force Reserves, having served in the Vietnam War. He retired from the railroad in 1989 and he also worked at Hilex Poly, retiring from there in 2010. Mr. Shinolt enjoyed golfing, yard work, and Corvettes.
James is survived by his loving wife, Libby Shinolt; Son, Doug (Ali) Shinolt of Georgia; Stepson, Ian Castetter of Columbus; Grandchildren, Francisco Shinolt of Georgia, Keenan (Ariel) Castetter of North Vernon, and Kamryn Castetter of North Vernon; and Sister, Brenda (Allen) Bohn.
Mr. Shinolt is preceded in death by his parents, as well as his brothers, Rex Shinolt, Chuck Shinolt, and Gary Shinolt
A memorial gathering will be held Friday, March 6, 2020, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Muscatatuck County Park Dining Hall. A graveside service will be held at Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison, Indiana on Saturday, March 7th at noon.
