James Walter Cowan

James Walter Cowan was born March 29, 1942 in New Castle, IN. He passed away due to a long battle with cancer on July 21, 2024. 

Jim was a Purdue University graduate and worked as an electrical engineer primarily in Indianapolis. He retired from IUPUI in 2000. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, J. Harold Cowan and Frances Cowan of New Castle, IN. 

Jim leaves behind his wife of 61 years, Sue Waters Cowan; their two children April Jackson (Rob), and Matt Cowan (Lynne) along with four grandchildren, James Jackson (Tiffany), Katelyn Thrush (David) and Robert Jackson, Jr. (Abby), Astraea Rose, and great-granddaughters, Aveline Hanner, Aria Thrush, and Emery Thrush. 

He will be greatly missed by family, neighbors, and friends.
