James "Jim" Thompson Bisset, 69, passed away on August 15th, 2023. James left this world surrounded by the loving family he chose and made. Jim was a very loving and caring man. He worked multiple trades but was most proud of his welding degree and metal fabrication, unless you count the roady days!
James retired October of 2021 from Jupiter Aluminum and Coil Coating of Fairland, Indiana. He moved to Manilla, Indiana from this job and remained here until his death. His best friend, Tom Quinn, also moved here to spend time with him after the passing of Jim's second wife, Virginia Bisset.
Since his retirement, he filled his time with music, fishing, family, He loved playing with grandchildren every chance he got. He didn't mind being a hippie, as he would say.
Jim had begun to grow a large family and he absolutely loved being a grandfather. He enjoyed spending whatever time we could with Maddy R., Faithlyn H., Maddie S., Caydon S., River, and Rowdy. Papaw's heart is with you all forever.
James is survived by his wife, Nichole Lee (Ritter) Bisset; the two children they raised together, WC Lee and Makenzy Jean; and their siblings, Jamison Hunter and Ryan (Michelle) Ritter. Jim is also survived by his 2nd wife, Viriginia's, children; Theresa Mathews, and Jon Hansen, and their children. He is also survived by Kenny (Jim loved you), his sisters, Mable Nelson, Betty (Lee) Soucie, Emily Medina, Erdine (Dennis) Weis; his brother, William "Bill" (Yvonne) Bisset; his in-laws, Terry and Brent Cummins; and many nieces and nephews. He was a great uncle to many nieces and nephews who recall him fondly.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents, John and Marion (Mathis) Bisset; his 1st wife, Virginia Bisset; his brothers, John "Jack" Bisset and Robert "Bob" Bisset; his sister, Helen M. Wilson; and his nephew, Dewey.
The family would like to give special thanks to Davey, Dee and John Reno, and their children. Uncle Jimmy would be proud.
Everything you touch causes an effect. Let's make it good. Frank Zappa sang Jim's internal tune. It was a pleasure to teach my dirty white boy how to fish in rivers and creeks. Jim said celebrate the life he lived and have one for him. Party time! He will be forever missed. "Its not goodbye, honey. Its until we meet again"
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to help pay for funeral expenses. You can call the funeral home directly at 317-348-1570 to make a donation.
