Ira Hartwell

Ira “Skip” Hartwell, 64, of Shelbyville, passed away Sunday July 9th, 2023 at his home. 

He was born Sunday, July 5, 1959 to Rita Cole Vierling and Ira Hartwell Jr. in Shelbyville, Indiana. 

Skip enjoyed many things such as spending time with his grandchildren, cheering on the Cowboys and Hoosiers, watching westerns, and socializing with his friends at the American Legion. Skip has said he has done all the things in life he wanted to do and traveled many places. One of his favorite past times was working as a commercial fisherman in Fort Pierce, Florida. 

He is survived by his son Travis Hartwell and grandson Asher Hartwell, daughter Ciara Griffith (Devon) and grandsons Quinten and Owen Griffith. As well as his parents Rita and Ira; Siblings Terry Baxter (Kent), Alan Hartwell, Stacey Fields (Mark), Julie Steward (Dwayne), Jan Crisman (Darrin), Misty Elliott (Bill), and Jack Hartwell (Angie). 

Memorial donations can be made to American Legion Post 70 in Shelbyville, Indiana.
