Rev. Howard E. Burt, 84
Born February 12, 1937 Rev. Burt went to live with Christ on May 16, 2021.
Howard was born in Desoto, MS to Clyde and Estella Burt. Born 4th of 5 children, he grew up in rural Mississippi.
Howard received the call to preach the Gospel in his teenage years. During his 6 decades of ministry, Howard preached the Apostolic message in 23 of the continental United States, pastored churches in Sumrall, MS, Liberty, KY, Robinson, IL and for 25 years in Indianapolis, IN. During his 25 Pastorate in Indianapolis, Howard built The First Friendship church building on South Meridian Sreet.
A hardworking man, Howard also ran a small contracting business in Indianapolis. His primary focus was roof replacement.
In September of 1958, Howard married his lifelong companion Phyllis Hobbs. Phyllis was his companion in ministry, confidant and help mate. Their union was blessed with 2 daughters, Shirley (Chappell) Burt, and Kathy (Smith) Burt.
Rev. Burt was preceded in death by his father, Clyde Burt, his Mother Estella (Fleming) Burt; siblings Raymond Burt, Clifton Burt, Billy Burt, Deloris (Davis) Burt and his eldest granddaughter Michelle (Chappell) Dickerson.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years Phyllis (Hobbs) Burt, daughters Shirley (Burt) Chappell Kathy (Burt) Smith, 4 grandchildren 13 great-grandchildren and a host of other family.
Service for Rev. Burt will be held at the Abundant Life Church The House of Mercy 1003 W. Lincoln St., Danville, IN 46122 on May 21, 2021 with calling from 4:00pm to 7:00 pm the funeral at 7:00 pm.
