Howard Dozier Harris Sr. was born on June 24, 1957 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Ella Mae Johnson Matthews and Dozier Henry Harris. He is one of the 11 children.
Howard attended school in the Detroit Public school system.
Howard was playfully known to his family as “The Bruiser”, Big Howard and Word. He was a sharp dresser, his smile would light up a room, his jokes made you laugh, and his nicknames stuck with you. Howard was an awesome father, a protector, and an overall great man. He was very artistic. He enjoyed drawing, martial arts, working on cars just to name a few of his many talents. His handwriting was immaculate he could even make roses out of napkins. He loved his family and friends dearly and he will truly be missed. In 1987 Howard moved to Indianapolis, Indiana in hopes of making a better life for himself and his children. Howard worked for RCA for 15 years and soon moved on to work for Quaker Oats where he retired in 2010.
On January 4, 2021 He was called home to be with the lord. He leaves in Cherishing Memory his loving wife Brenda L. Harris , His 6 children, Vernita L Harris (Clifton Sr.), Antonio J. Wilson Sr.(Chyvon ), Cecciula J. Harris, Howard D. Harris Jr., Regina A. Harris-Mosley (Robert), Alexis D. Harris and 2 stepchildren Che-kina Davis and Robert Mosley Jr., 16 grandchildren ,6 step grandchildren, 3 living siblings Mrytle Adell-Leonard, Kenneth K. Harris Sr., and Leman D. Harris , and a host of nieces, nephews , cousins. Proceeding him in death Farther Dozier Henry Harris, Mother Ella Mae Doll Johnson-Matthews, 7 siblings, Richard (Sheek) Adell Jr, LeeVern Matthews-Watkins, Willie (Pee-Wee) Matthews Jr., Clarence Matthews, Gerald (Jerry) Matthews, Anthony Matthews and Ethel Matthews-Webb, 2 grandchildren, Michael D C Harris and Messiah Harris.
