Helen Schweizer, 83, passed away on Tuesday, March 9, 2024, at Life's Journey Hospice in Avon, IN. Helen was born on October 2, 1940 in Bald Knob, AR to Wesley and Blanche Edom. Her family moved to Benton Harbor, MI when Helen was two and her sister, Loretta, was a few months old. Four years later, Helen's youngest sister, Carol, was born in Michigan while later step-sister, Doris, joined the family of four beloved sisters. Helen had a 28 year career working at Jewel Food Store with husband, Jim, working 30 years at the post office in Benton Harbor, MI. Helen married James Schweizer on January 27, 1962 at St. John's Catholic Church. The couple had four children: Sandra ('62), Paul ('63), Mark ('64), and John ('68) Schweizer. Helen was best known for her amazing love for her family, the need for speed in her Chevy Camaros, a new found love of dogs, and her Sassy, tell-it-like-it-is fun-loving personality.

Helen is survived by her beloved husband, James Schweizer (62 yr marriage); Sandra (Schweizer) & Larry Hilla - daughter & husband, of Battle Creek, MI; John (Deb) Schweizer - son, of Coatesville, IN; Jessica (Hilla) & Robert Henley- granddaughter & husband of Ceresco, MI; David (Ashley) Riley-grandson of Brownsburg, IN; and Colleen Riley- granddaughter of Coatesville, IN. Her sisters: Loretta (Frank) Hansen of St. Joseph, MI; Carol (Tom) Lindenberg of Stevensville, MI; Doris (Ray) Vermilyer of Watervliet, MI. Also, a whole Sliter Family of relatives she loved since family was her world.

Helen is preceded in death by Blanche Edom - mother, Wesley Edom - father, Paul Schweizer - son, Mark Schweizer - son

There will be a Catholic mass and Memorial service for Mrs. Helen Schweizer held at a later date this Spring in St. Joseph, Michigan.

Burial: Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, MI.
