Helen Marie Derrick

Helen Marie Derrick, 85, passed away on August 31, 2021 in Carmel Indiana after many years of failing health. She was a loving mother, wife, Grandmother and Great Grandmother.
She was born to Paul Hadley and Bessie Lee (Pendleton) Hadley on January 4th, 1936 in Edinburgh, Indiana, Helen graduated high school in Boggstown, Indiana in 1954.

Helen was a kind, caring mother to her sons Mike and Rick and daughters Sherri and Ruth. She was a beloved ‘Mamaw” to Tyler, Stephen, Kris, and Matthew, Maelynne, Stephen Jr., and William. She was a loving mother-in-law to Carol Hofmann, Bill Lohman and Mike Prophet

Helen married Lloyd Derrick in 1988 in Indianapolis, Indiana. She and Lloyd traveled the United States after retiring from the Department of Finance and and Account Service (DFAS) at Fort Benjamin Harrison located in Indianapolis, Indiana. Helen loved to play euchre and Bingo, and was an avid Indianapolis Colts fan and loved gardening . Helen loved her little Yorkie “Andy”, who was her and Lloyds buddy.

Helen was preceded in death by husband Lloyd Derrick, her son Richard “Rick” Hofmann, son-in-law Robert “Bill” Lohman and grandson Stephen Robertson. Brothers Bobby, Paul Dean, Floyd, Glen, and Gilbert Hadley.

She is survived by her son Mike Hofmann, daughters Sherri Prophet (Mike) and Ruth Lohman, grandchildren Kris Hofmann, Tyler Robertson, and Matthew Lohman, and great-grandchildren Maelynne, Stephen Junior, and William, and her sisters Kaye and Faye, and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Thursday September 9th, 2021 at Indiana Funeral Care located at 8151 Allisonville Road, Indianapolis, IN 46250 at 11:00 am, with funeral services following at 1:00 pm.

Burial will take place at Mendon Cemetery in Madison County, Indiana.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Hamilton County, Fishers, IN.
