Harvey Allen Greene, 88, of Carmel, Indiana, passed away on July 27, 2023. He was born on August 30, 1934, in Evansville, Indiana. Harvey was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Greene, children, Betsy, Chris, Jeff, and Jennifer Greene, grandchildren, Katherine Whitley, Ryan Quade, Christopher and Socrates Greene Taylor Scott, Tess Greene, Daniel, Skye, and Hunter Terhune, and great grandchildren, Winston Whitley, Carter and Connor Scott, Socrates Greene, Hansen and Easton Terhune.

Harvey graduated from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and began his professional career as a civil engineer. He was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity and R-Men’s Association. Harvey played football at Rose-Hulman.  He was a proud graduate and attended many events in Terre Haute, including a commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of his graduation.  He remained connected to his fellow Rose graduates for many years, meeting monthly at a local pizza restaurant for lunches.

In 1966, while in his 30s, he went back to school. While working full-time, he obtained his law degree at Indiana University School of Law Indianapolis in 1970. (Now, McKinney School of Law). In an interview at the time of his graduation, he likened his pursuit of a new career to “jumping off a bridge”. He combined his knowledge of engineering and the law to build a successful career.  Harvey finished his career as a tax specialist.  He served as an Administrative Law Judge for the Indiana Department of Revenue before retiring. He was justifiably proud of his service as a Judge.

Harvey was a long-time member of the Lions Club International, volunteering at many events. He volunteered to give tax return assistance at local libraries. In honor of Harvey's memory, the family kindly requests that contributions be made to Lions Club International. This organization was close to Harvey's heart, and any donations will greatly support their charitable efforts.

A long-time supporter of the Stratford Shakespeare Festival in Stratford, Ontario, Canada, Harvey enjoyed his many visits to the theaters and followed the actor’s careers from Indianapolis.  Two of his favorites were William Hutt and Brian Bedford, giants in the theater world. He also enjoyed touring Revolutionary and Civil War battlefields.

The family expresses their sincere gratitude for the love and support received during this difficult time. Harvey will forever be remembered for his dedication to his family, his commitment to education, and his philanthropic spirit. He will be missed.

A private memorial service will be held to celebrate Harvey's life.
