Harriet Jean Fulton (Preston) 95, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at home on October 17,2023. She was born on February 16, 1928 to Harry and Margaret Preston of Muncie Indiana.
She is survived by her brother Robert (Bob) Preston, her children Julie (Bill) Orme, Michael (Lori) Fulton, and Amy Jonson. Grandchildren; Nathan (Stacey) Orme, Sara (Robert) Hughes, John (Elizabeth) Morgan, Jarrett Crites, Katie Fulton, Cassie (Matt) Oliver, Nick Jonson, Ben Jonson, Tyler (Kristina) Fulton, Emily (Kyle) Genter, Audrey Fulton and ten great grandchildren.
Harriet was preceded in death by her husband, Danny Fulton, her son, Matthew Fulton, her daughter Patricia Crites and granddaughter Carly Fulton.
Harriet was an educator and guidance counselor after getting her masters degree at the age of 23 from Ball State University. Her career started at Ball State University in the administration department and then onto teach and counsel in Gary Indiana, Bloomington Indiana at Central High School and Batchelor Middle School. She was involved with the MCCSC Retired Teachers Association as a member and past president. Harriet enjoyed being one of the contributors to the book: The Echoes From One-Room Schools. She had a passion for gardening and was a Master Gardener who was also a member of The Bloomington Garden Club. She was an active member of the Monroe County YMCA and The Endwright Senior Center, where she particularly loved practicing yoga and often encouraged friends and family to join her.
She was a true inspiration to all who knew her and led by example. Her words of wisdom and devotion to her family, along with her quick-wit and sense of humor will not be forgotten. Harriet loved a good book, traveling, music and theater.
The family will gather for a private Celebration of Life, and would like to share your condolences and special memories with family.
