Harold “Pottie” D. Jenkins

On April 21, 2022, Harold “Pottie” Jenkins peacefully passed in his home in Indianapolis, IN. He was born in South Bend, IN on September 27, 1943, to Edward and Z.D. Jenkins.
Harold “Pottie” Jenkins graduated from Washington High School of South Bend, IN. He was a member of New Testament Baptist Church in South Bend, IN. He was also a member of Salt of the Earth Baptist church in Indianapolis, IN. He worked as a truck driver for over 40 years.
Harold “Pottie” Jenkins was known for knowing everything about trucking and could get you wherever you needed off memory. Before Google Maps, there was Uncle Pottie! He was truly a family man and loved spending time with his kids and grandkids. He took great care of his family, always and was a great source for knowledge and wisdom. He loved cooking and barbequing for his family and was known for barbequing every New Year’s Day. He enjoyed watching baseball, westerns and listening to Motown music! In more recent years, he loved scratch off lottery tickets and always “had a hit”.
He is survived by his children: Jennifer Jenkins of Indianapolis, IN, Scott (Jeanice) Jenkins of Indianapolis, IN, Todd Jenkins of Atlanta, GA, and Robbin Jenkins of Tucson, AZ.
Harold “Pottie” Jenkins is also survived by grandchildren Justin Jenkins, Kayla Alvear, Devin Jenkins, Harrison Jenkins, Konner Jenkins, Tyrus Jenkins, Jacob Jenkins and one great-granddaughter Leilani Jenkins.
He leaves behind wonderful memories with siblings Wilma Jean Taylor of South Pasadena, CA and Jawel Lemons (Albert) of Forney, TX, along with a host of many other family members and friends who loved him.
As he makes his transition from this world, he will be welcomed by those he loved dearly. He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Marlene Jenkins, his parents, Edward and Z.D. (Neely) Jenkins, and siblings: Carl Edward Jenkins., Wardell Jenkins, Lawrence Jenkins, Shirlene Jenkins, and Kennis Jenkins.
Harold “Pottie” Jenkins is gone from his physical being but will be remembered and loved in memory. His presence will be missed, but he will be forever embraced in our hearts and minds.
He leaves behind a special thank you to his hospice nurse Amanda and Ryan, along with Dr. Jain and the team of nurses he met during his treatment.
Visitation will be April 29, 2022, from 4pm-5 pm.
Funeral services will be April 29, 2022, from 5pm to 6pm at Indiana Funeral Care located at 8151 Allisonville Rd, Indianapolis, IN 46250.
