Harold Gilbert, 83, formerly of Indianapolis, IN, passed away on Friday, April 19, 2024, at Brookhaven Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Carrollton, TX.
Harold was born November 9, 1940 in Orlinda, TN to Finis and Luvenia Gilbert. He received his education from Robertson County TN Educational System. His family relocated to Indianapolis, IN in 1963. Harold begin his trucking career in 1971 with Yellow Freight. He then worked at Cassens Transport for many years prior to his retirement. He was the master of trucking who traveled far and wide. He knew all of the highways and back roads. Harold loved to build and work on cars. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and the Indianapolis 500 race. He also cherished his vintage 1957 Chevy Bel Air. Harold was the uncle with the HANDY HAND. Everyone would say, "Call Uncle Harold." Most of all, Harold was a great man, a true friend, and gentleman, who only saw the good in people. He will be greatly missed.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Finis and Luvenia Gilbert; stepsons, Toney and Rickey Danner; three brothers, Howard and Hugh Gilbert and Billy Turner; and three sisters, Gayzola Brasher, Betty Jean Gilbert and Veronica Wilson.
Harold is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Juanita Gilbert; daughter, Jaquita Savage of Indianapolis, IN; stepson, Chris Danner of Dallas, TX; stepdaughters, Terri and Connie of Indianapolis, IN; sister, Frances Barker of Indianapolis, IN; six grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2024 from 9:00 am - 10:30 am with a funeral service at 10:30 am at Indiana Funeral Care, 8151 Allisonville Rd.
