Harold Eugene Cramer

Harold Eugene Cramer, age 92, of Indianapolis, IN passed away on January 10, 2025. Gene was born to Harold and Grace Cramer on October 28, 1932. After moving 13 times from age 3 months to age 9, he graduated from Muncie Burris High School. 

Gene then graduated in 1954 from the Beta Gamma Sigma Business School of Indiana University. He went on to receive an MBA degree from Indiana University in 1957. 

Gene served 10 years in the military, entering service as a 2nd Lieutenant and leaving the service as a Major. He served two years of active duty at Fort Lee Virginia and 8 years in reserves with the 337th General Hospital at Fort Benjamin Harrison. 

Gene was employed by American United Life for 30 years where he retired in 1994 as Vice President of Reinsurance Underwriting. 

Gene's passions were loving his spouse of 68 years, Jackie, who preceded him in death; children, Cathy, William, and Robert; grandchildren, Andrew, Katelyn, Grace and Evan; and in laws, Dan, Kristen, and Lana. 

He was passionate about sports; tennis, golf and football, active in community service; Executive Service Corp., community theater; Epilogue, and enjoyed playing bridge, gardening, popcorn and reading cozy mysteries. 

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at 10:00 am - 11:00 a.m. with a service starting at 11:00 am at Allisonville Christian Church, 7701 Allisonville Rd. Indianapolis, IN 46250. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Allisonville Christian Church.
