Gretchen Peterson

April 8, 1941 — November 29, 2020

Gretchen Dorothy (Smith) Peterson, 79, of Brownsburg, Indiana passed away peacefully on November 29, 2020 at home, holding her son’s hand, after a short battle with cancer. She is preceded in death by her parents, Moey (Bud) and Dorothy Smith of Minnesota and her beloved husband LeRoy Peterson.

Gretchen previously worked at AdminaStar Federal for over 20 years, prior to retiring. She also enjoyed selling Avon for several years. Gretchen loved spending time with family and friends, the Minnesota Vikings, reading, traveling, and watching Hallmark movies. She was an active member of Whitelick Presbyterian Church where she made many close friends.
Gretchen is survived by her sister Gwen Smith of Minnesota, Dan (Carol) Smith of Minnesota, sister- in- law Eda Altringer of Minnesota and her children, Jill Washington of Indianapolis, Heidi (Daryl) Gibbs of Plainfield and Jeff (Missy) Peterson of Brownsburg. Her grandchildren, Taylor Washington, Emma Washington, Jake, Cade and Daryl II Gibbs, Bryce (Jordyn) Peterson, Justus (Emalie) Peterson and Grace Peterson and five great grandchildren, Adrianna, Madelynn, Mackenzie, Michalia, and Mia. She is also survived by multiple nieces, nephews, cousins and lifelong friends.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions there will be a private graveside service for the immediate family on Monday, December 7, 2020. The family will be holding celebration of life gatherings in Indiana and Minnesota this spring.
