Gregory Edward Hu

May 28, 1997 — September 22, 2024

Fishers

Gregory Edward Hu, 27, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, September 22, 2024, in Fishers, Indiana. He was born on May 28, 1997, in Columbia, Maryland. Gregory is survived by his mother, Peiming Sun (Indiana); his father, Phil Z. Hughes (Texas); and his elder brother, Jonathan O. Hu (Japan).

Diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) at age 7, Gregory faced this genetic and terminal illness with extraordinary courage, living with DMD over 20 years with a warrior's spirit. Despite his challenges, Gregory excelled in art and creativity. In his twenties, he became a live-streaming gamer and artist, using adaptive devices to share his creations on his YouTube channel, @GregtheInvincible.

Gregory defied the limitations imposed by his condition, focusing on the abilities he still possessed rather than the disabilities others saw. He lived life on his terms, fully expressing his unique spirit from the beginning to his last breath.

In honor of Gregory's life and indomitable spirit, his family kindly requests that, instead of flowers or donations, you plant a tree in his memory. Let it serve as a living symbol of his enduring presence on this earth.

Services will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at Indiana Funeral Care, 8151 Allisonville Rd., Indianapolis, IN 46250. Visitation will take place from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
