Glen Korobov, of Indianapolis, IN, passed away at the age of 79 on Tuesday, March 8, 2022.
Glen is survived by his wife of 51 years, Paulette Korobov; his children Kristina Korobov, Neill Korobov, Karen Villarrubia, and Kelly Davidson; and nine grandchildren.
Glen was born in Washington D.C and graduated from East Tennessee State University in 1969. He served as head basketball coach at University of Charleston (W.V), Castle Heights Military Academy, Bolles, Washington HS, and as assistant head coach at Stetson, Morris Harvey, St. Louis Univ., Kentucky, Oklahoma State, Tulane, East Tennessee State, and SMU in addition to serving as an assistant to Barry Collier at Butler University.
Glen also coached with Athletes in Action, worked with Youth for Christ, was a former state director for Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and worked for USA Group-Noel Levitz marketing a student athlete retention program to over 500 institutions nationally.
Glen served on the committee of ministry activities for the Men's Final Four convention for over 30 years, and was on the operating board for Nation of Coaches. He was an elder for Crossroads and Indy Metro Churches, and a compassion deacon for One Fellowship and College Park Churches.
Glen was also a member of National Association of Basketball Coaches, Promise Keepers and Black Coaches Association.
More than anything, Glen loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He once wrote that his main goal was to “shepherd people and impact their lives for eternity,” and he did just that. He sent out daily devotions every single morning to over 200 coaches, friends, and pastors, up until the day he was hospitalized. His life was a beautiful example of how one small person can have a massive impact on others when we die to ourselves and live for Christ.
Funeral service will be on Saturday, March 19, 2022, with visiting hours from 10-11am, and memorial service at 11am at College Park Church, 2606 W 96th St., Indpls., IN.
