Gertie (Thomas) Wallace of Sheridan IN, passed away in her home Thursday, May 6, 2021 at the age of 63.
Gertie was born on February 23, 1958 to Rex and Phebe Thomas in Grayson KY. She was the youngest of 14 siblings.
She married the love of her life Allen of 67 years and together had 2 children. She also became a mother to 4 stepchildren that she truly loved and adored as much as her own.
Gertie worked for Carmel Clay Schools for 16 years as a cafeteria cook. After coming back to Indiana from her Florida retirement she worked for Westfield Schools as a bus aid for 4 years until she was no longer able. She enjoyed seeing the kids everyday and she made so many friends over the years. she loved being off for the summers. Spending time in pool, taking care of her plants and gardening. But most importantly spending time with her family.
Gertie is preceded in Death by here Father Rex, Mother Pheba, Brothers- Dewey, Louis, Cecil, Lowell, Allan and Larry. She is survived by her Husband Rufus (Al) Wallace, Sons- Jeff (Norma) Wallace, Mike Wallace, Tim (Nancy) Wallace, Daughters- Gina Gary, Kitrina McFarland, Wendy (Brad) Dunbar. Sisters- Lily Mick and Rose Soummers, Brother- William (Cheryl) Thomas, Several Nieces and Nephews, 22 Grandchildren and many more Great Grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 from 2-4pm at Indiana Funeral care, 8151 Allisonville Road, Indianapolis, IN 46250. Service starting at 4pm conducted by Pastor Rich Barker.
