Gerhard B. Jorgensen

August 23, 1944 — January 4, 2025

Indianapolis

Gerhard B. Jorgensen was born on August 23, 1944, in Arhus, Denmark and later immigrated to the U.S. in 1967, where he married Norma Ziemek, his wife of 25 years. He later befriended his long time partner and beloved friend, Patricia Wood of 24 years who unfortunately passed several years ago.

Gerhard was a reserved individual who enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, Gerhard also cherished his family including sons, Brennan and Keith Jorgensen; step-daughter, Kelly (fiancé, Taylor); step-son, Jeremy (Jenny) Wood; and step-grandchildren, Roger, Mackenzie and Ava, who all survive him. He also has a brother, Thomas Jorgensen, who resides in Brisbane, Australia, who also survives. One of his final wishes was for them all to establish a horse farm in the South of France.

Gerhard was widely recognized as one who loved the outdoors and lived in Colorado for two decades where he enjoyed hiking, camping, cross country skiing, and many other outdoor pursuits with family and friends. He often also enjoyed quiet times and casual experiences such as sipping coffee, reading good books, and contemplating his thoughts. After establishing himself in the U.S., he worked into a career as a railroad engineer for a large mining company near Dillon, Colorado for two decades and then later moved to Indianapolis where he met Patricia Wood. He eventually semi-retired as a part time retail manager near Carmel, IN.

A private family final goodbye will be held at Indiana Funeral Care, Indianapolis, IN.
