Geraldine (Moore) Owens, age 90
Born January 28th, 1934 passed away on June 8th, 2024
Better known as Gerry, she lived a long fulfilling life raising a family, doing volunteer work and was an avid bird watcher. She had a collection of ceramic birds that she had collected over the years along with her collection of giraffes, her other favorite animal. She treasured most of all being a wife and mother.
Gerry was born and raised in Des Moines, Iowa in a home her father built. (They lived in the basement that he dug while he finished the house above them) After completing high school, she joined the Air Force in 1952 working in the computer department as a data entry clerk. She was stationed in San Antonio Texas where she met her future husband, Don who was also in the Air Force. They were married and after the military they moved to Pendleton, then Anderson, Indiana and started a family. While raising her family she also committed time as a volunteer “Pink Lady” at Community Hospital in Anderson. Later in life she and her husband moved to Plainfield, IN and more recently lived in Noblesville IN. She passed away just short of their 70th wedding anniversary.
She will be missed by her immediate family consisting of her husband, Don Owens; sons, Tom (Stephanie)Owens, in St Louis, Missouri, Tim (Jan) Owens in Plainfield, Indiana and one daughter Nancy (Ray) Middleton (Noblesville). She will also be missed by her two Sisters Doris Parsons of Des Moines, Iowa and Judy (Larry) Lancaster of Norwalk, Iowa, her brother n law Bill Gibbons Arizona. She also leaves behind six grandchildren, five great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents Merville and Lucy Moore (Des Moines, Iowa), Her older brother and sister n law, Roy and Phyllis Moore (Des Moines, Iowa); her brother and sister-in-law Roger and Shirley Owens (Anderson, Indiana), sister-in-law Mary Gibbons, nieces Cheryl Lackey and Lisa Easterling.
Memorial contributions to be made to a charity of your choice.
There are no services planned at this time. When her husband passes, they will be interred together at the family cemetery in Pendleton IN.
