Gerald "Jerry" Ray Linville, 89, of Brownsburg (formally of Indianapolis), passed away on August 9, 2024.

Jerry was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on May 10, 1935, to Fred and Marie Linville. He was the eldest of five children and was predeceased by sisters, Beverly (Bruce) Stellhorn, and Linda (Lee) Hockersmith. He is survived by sisters, Elaine (William) Ball, and Cathy (Don) DeBello.

After briefly attending Arsenal Technical High School, Jerry transferred to Washington High School where he met the love of his life, Carol Ann Housefield, and where they each graduated. They were married on March 28, 1959, in Sweeney Chapel on the campus of Butler University, and enjoyed 64 years together.

Family was a priority for Jerry. He was a proud dad to Dan (Lana), David, Jeff (Jennifer) and Cindy (Tom) Hornak. He supported their extracurricular activities, including football, basketball, soccer games, running events, and musical performances.

Jerry found joy and love from grandchildren, Emily (Nick) Berger, Cassie (Cole) Clayton, Michael (Payton) Hornak, Alexa Hornak, Matthew (Emma) Linville, and Sarah (Matt) Monte, and great grandchildren, Lincoln, Hazel, Jaxon, and Carter.

After engaging in electronic repair for AT&T (Western Electric) for over 30 years, he turned his vocation efforts outdoors. Over the next 30 years, he contracted with various clients performing lawn care services including gardening and light landscaping throughout the Northwest side of Indianapolis.

Jerry competed in numerous running races including the Indianapolis Mini Marathon of which he stated, "This race is a half marathon. There is nothing "Mini" about it ". Additionally, he was instrumental in measuring and mapping the running courses currently in existence at Eagle Creek Park.

Jerry was an avid golf fan. He learned to play on Riverside and Coffin courses. He later enjoyed playing with his family and friends at White Lick and Eagle Creek courses. A highlight was winning a tournament with his grandson, and he also enjoyed 25 cent wager golf rounds among friends. As a spectator, he attended various tournaments with his sons, with two trips to The Masters being the pinnacle.

The family thanks the staff of Brownsburg Meadows Assisted Living for their loving care and concern toward Jerry and family.

The family will hold a Celebration of Life at a later date.
