Gerald Michael “Mike” HarrisApril 9, 1943 – April 5, 2025
Gerald Michael Harris, affectionately known as “Mike,” passed away peacefully on April 5, 2025, just days before his 82nd birthday. He was born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana, where he spent his entire life surrounded by family and friends.
Mike worked for the railroad beginning in June 1973 until retiring in September 1988 due to a disability. Despite the challenges life brought, he remained resilient and full of heart. In July 1983, he made the most meaningful commitment of his life by dedicating himself to Jehovah, a decision that shaped his values and brought him deep spiritual peace.
Mike had a great love for the outdoors. Whether he was fishing, tending to his garden, feeding his plants, or cheering on his favorite football team, he found joy in life’s simple pleasures. One of his favorite pastimes was spending time at the barn, watching and feeding the animals—something that brought him peace and quiet happiness. He was known for his warm laugh, generous spirit, and hearty appetite—especially when good food and good company were involved.
He was the beloved son of the late Theodore and Dorothy Harris. He is survived by his children: Patrick Harris, Michael Harris Jr., Christopher Harris, Tamera Ellington, Trela Bundy, Teddy Harris, Tyrone Harris, and Theo Harris. He also leaves behind numerous grandchildren who brought light to his life, and his dear friend and supporter, Sharon Harris -Seabrook who stood by him through the years.
One of Mike’s favorite scriptures was Revelation 21:4:“And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”This verse was a source of comfort and hope for him, and it continues to inspire those who loved him.
Mike will be remembered for his kindness, strength, humor, and unshakable faith. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
