George Edward Shoulders, Jr., 80, of Indianapolis, IN, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2025 at his home in Indianapolis. On July 4, 1944, he was born to George Shoulders, Sr. and Juanita (Gamble) Mills in Athens, Alabama. After completing his education, he proudly served his country in the United States Air Force.
He met and later married his wife, Anna Louise (Petty) Shoulders on July 15, 1965. Together they spent over 37 years by each other’s sides, raising their family and watching their children and then grandchildren grow. In George’s life, his family always came first. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to many, who always prioritized his loved ones above himself.
Following his military service, George went on to become a laboratory technician, working for Eli Lily until the time of his retirement.
As a Jehovah’s Witness, George was also very close to his faith. His faith gave him strength and was the key to the man he had become.
George is survived by his children, Deborah Shoulders, Kymberly (Craig) Howard, and Christopher George Shoulders; five grandchildren, Brittany Passley, Brandi Passley, Christian Shoulders, Mattison Shoulders-Hawkins, and Christopher Shoulders II (“CJ”); one brother, Jerome (Debbie) Mills, and a host of nieces and nephews, who will all miss him very much.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George Shoulders, Sr. and Juanita Mills; and two of his brothers, William Shoulders, Sr., and Ellis Mills.
George’s online guestbook and condolences can be shared online with the family at www.indianafuneralcare.com. Indiana Funeral Care and Crematory is honored to be assisting the family with arrangements.
