George Albert Foster Jr.

April 3, 1950 — September 28, 2024

Sheridan

George “Buddy” Albert Foster Jr. of Sheridan, IN passed away on Saturday September 28th, 2024 at University Hospital, Indianapolis with his wife at his side.

George was a true die hard American Army Veteran who loved and served his country for 21 years, from 1968 - 1989. He joined the Army at the age of 18 and was sent to Ft. Bragg where he was in the 82nd airborne. He retired out of Fort Knox in 1989 as a Master First Sergeant with several medals and honors.

After retirement George was an all-around handyman, and outdoorsman. He found great joy in installing flag poles and would be best described as being “The American Flag MP”. If you or your business flew an American Flag that was tattered, worn or hanging in a disrespectful way he had no problem with letting you know it needed to be replaced or rehung. He would make a point to stop by every day until it was.

He was a proud member of the American Legion Post 67 where he enjoyed the comradery, pull tabs, the Treasure hunt and an occasional cold beer.

He was also a member of the White River Yacht Club located in Ravenswood where he built several river banks, piers and was known for helping with the holiday festivities. He grew up and hung out in the Ravenswood area and as age set in he enjoyed hanging out with friends and patrons playing cards.

George’s down time was spent making sure the plants and wildlife near him were thriving. He enjoyed feeding the birds, rabbits and yes even the squirrels. George could be considered a whisperer to dogs, cats and even horses. Most of all in the past few years he enjoyed sitting outside with his dog Maggie.

George was a loving husband to Kimberly. They were married in 1972 and made the best life possible for themselves and three children in the 52 years they were together. Both George and Kimberly enjoyed going to the local casinos, where they would cheer each other on to get that big win.

He made sure his kids had everything they needed. He doted on his grandkids and great grandkid. He enjoyed talking, tinkering, watching TV and reading to his grandkids and great-grandson. George always had a way of coming up with creative ideas to keep them busy. He was a friend, father figure and mentor to each one of his kids and grandkids.

He is preceded in death by his son George Patrick, parents George Sr. and Nythella Foster, brother Jimmy, and sisters Louella, Janice, Carolyn and Marion.

He leaves behind his wife Kimberly, daughters Tonia and Kathy as well as five grandkids Maryssa, Davin, TJ, Baylee and Corbin and one great grandson Greysen. As well as his siblings Rosalie, Jerry, Ronnie, Darlene, and many nieces and nephews.

He feared few, intimidated many, and loved us all!
